Portmeirion |
Portmeirion is one of Wales's premier attractions welcoming up to a quarter of a million visitors a year to it's shops, restaurants, gardens and beaches. This unique village and it's woodland gardens are set on a private peninsular on the southern shores of Snowdonia. The village was created by visionary Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis (1883-1978) who wanted to show how a naturally beautiful place could be developed without spoiling it. It was used in the 1960's as the location for Patrick McGoohan's cult television series 'The Prisoner'. In 1973 Portmeirion was given Grade II listed building status and in 1993 it was designated a Conservation area.
Opening times
Open 9.30am - 5.30pm daily all year.
How to get there
Off the A487 at Minffordd between Penrhyndeudraeth and Porthmadog.
