Llechwedd Slate Caverns

Tour the spectacular underground world of the Victorian slate miner;  pause in wonder beside the underground lake used for two Hollywood films!
The "Deep Mine Tour" begins on Britain's steepest passenger railway (1:1.8), for a 25 minute walk through 10 sound and light sequences in an under-ground wonderland.
The "Miners Tramway" is a guided tour through an 1846 network of awe-inspiring man-made caverns of cathedral like proportions, completed by a demonstration of ancient mining skills.
Wander through the "Victorian Village", where pub and shops use re-minted Victorian coins!

Open 10.00am - 5.15pm daily all year.
Except Christmas and New Year.

How to get there
Beside the A470 1mile north-east of Blaenau Ffestiniog.
25 miles from the A55 North Wales Expressway (Conwy Valley turnoff)
11 miles from the A5 at Betws-y-Coed, and 12 miles from Porthmadog.
